Mission
SICCI-WIN represents the interests of the women members of the Chamber and provides a business and social forum within which the members and the larger Indian women business community can interact, network and explore business opportunities with one another.
Objectives
The key objectives of SICCI-WIN are:
-
To promote entrepreneurship and professional development for its members and aspiring Indian women entrepreneurs;
-
To provide the necessary support and encouragement to help members perform to their optimal capacity. We hope to enhance the members’ professional growth through networking and other activities which focus on training and skills development, business advisory services, role modelling and mentoring.
-
To provide a forum for the exchange of views and discussion of issues, particularly those relating to women.
-
To undertake and promote corporate social responsibility among women entrepreneurs.
Key Initiatives
SICCI-WIN organises and spearheads a series of activities and programmes with the key purpose of developing the entrepreneurial spirit among Indian women. It also enhances the skills and capabilities of Indian women so that they are able to advance in their careers and businesses.
Breaking Barriers Seminar
Organised jointly with PA Narpani Pearavai, this annual forum and network session aims to feature the successes of Indian women in business and promote awareness of entrepreneurship amongst Indian women.
The speakers are usually are a mix of female entrepreneurs, corporate leaders and key players in business and the non-profit sector. They share their motivation for achievement and prosperity. The participants build relationships with other dynamic women, learn from one another and share resources in order to achieve their entrepreneurial ambitions and goals.
Breakfast Talk Series
SICCI-WIN hosts breakfast talks with the aim of sharing knowledge and meeting with people who are interested in business with and for Indian women. These talks focus on current trends, challenges or solutions for Indian women in the business environment and in the larger Indian community.
Business Missions
SICCI-WIN’s business missions are geared to helping business women gain valuable insights on key emerging markets and provide them with the opportunity to develop important contacts for their businesses. Besides networking, the delegates also have the chance to share their business experiences, discuss common issues and forge partnerships during these missions.
Project Athena
SICCI-WIN launched Project Athena with the Singapore Indian Development Association in 2009. The project empowers and builds confidence of single mothers, who have the challenge of bringing up their child/children by themselves, and develops long-term solutions to the challenges in their lives. The programme also helps to identify enrichment programmes for these children to do well in today’s society.
Needy Family Adoption Scheme
SICCI-WIN and the Art of Living, in collaboration with Tanjong Pagar GRC, launched the ‘Needy Family Adoption Scheme’ in 2009. Under this project, volunteers from all walks of lives befriend elderly and needy Indian families in Tanjong Pagar GRC. The volunteers visit the families to provide support and a helping hand.
Other Relevant Initiatives
In addition to these programmes, SICCI-WIN, either on its own or in collaboration with like-minded organisations, initiates various community projects. These include charity shows, golf clinics and Mother’s Day celebration, among others.
