The Enterprise Development Centre (EDC@SICCI), a subsidiary of the SICCI, was set up in collaboration with SPRING Singapore in 2008.
The Centre assists start-up enterprises as well as established small-medium enterprises (SMEs) enhance their capabilities through the provision of value-added services such as business advisory, focused consultancy, business matching, market research, networking opportunities, regionalisation advisory, business promotion and business support information.
It also works closely with government agencies such as SPRING Singapore, International Enterprise Singapore, Economic Development Board, Infocomm Development Authority and Workforce Development Authority to help enterprises develop a better understanding of available government assistance schemes and assist them with the relevant applications.
The Centre also strives to help businesses upgrade their management skills and acquire enhanced capabilities through the adoption of new technologies.
Services and Activities
Networking Opportunities and Business Match Making
Backed by a diverse and rapidly-expanding SICCI membership, EDC@SICCI acts as an ideal platform for networking and developing business contacts. It also plays an instrumental role in organising regular seminars and conferences, thereby enabling its members, clients and partners to participate in forums that provide business knowledge and key insights from captains-of-industry. At the same time, it assists with trade enquiries and provides important and relevant business leads.
Regionalisation Advisory
The Centre is well poised to offer great advantages to SMEs through its constantly expanding global network of alliances and partners. It provides a contributory channel to forge business partnerships, especially in the regions of Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East, Africa and Europe. EDC@SICCI also focuses on providing Singapore-based SMEs the opportunity to engage India, one of Asia’s largest economic dynamos.
Capability Development
The Centre conducts relevant training sessions to enable companies enhance their core competitiveness. It focuses on such areas as brand development, intellectual property management, technology innovation, product diversification sustainability and business excellence. In collaboration with strategic institutional partners, EDC@SICCI also facilitates the exchange of industry expertise.
Business Information Services
EDC@SICCI takes the lead in keeping its members and clients updated on the latest commercial developments and emerging opportunities, worldwide. It also disseminates regular electronic circulars that carry a wealth of much-needed and timely information. SMEs can tap on to the rich information available at EDC@SICCI’s resource centre. Companies may also request for assistance in acquiring trade statistics.
Business Promotion
In collaboration with SICCI, the Centre facilitates business missions to India and other emerging markets, thereby providing the quintessential arena for the forging of international business ventures. At the clients’ request, EDC@SICCI can also facilitate participation in international trade fairs and business exhibitions as well as organise ‘buyer-seller’ meetings.
Business Advisory Services
EDC@SICCI’s consultancy services are extended to both start-ups as well as established corporations. The Centre provides business advisory services, which cover bank financing, grants, skills upgrading, tax incentives among others, and assists with the application process. In addition, the Centre works closely with government agencies to assist SMEs which require advice in specialised areas. The Centre also helps in accessing alternative funding options and consultancy services in this regard.
